Meet our board of directors.

Take some time to get to know the voluntary board of directors working behind the scenes to bring 2-4 to life.

At the heart of 2‑4 Market Place is a team that cares deeply about Caistor’s past, present and future. And working at the forefront of the project is our Board of Directors. All volunteering their time, each director brings something unique to 2-4 while actively working towards the same goal: breathing new life into one of the town’s most loved collections of buildings for everyone to enjoy.

I joined as I wanted to see the Market Place brought back to life. There were improvements in the square with new shops, but the old Co-op was letting the town down. I felt it was important for it to be returned to its former glory and not end up being flats like so many other buildings.

My determination to be part of the team to bring the Old Co-op building back to life grew from frustration that developed at Town Council meetings. I am proud to be a member of the Caistor Town Council, but was increasingly concerned that month after month, year after year, the Old Co-op building was discussed, and questions were asked about what was happening, but nothing was happening. The 2-4 Market Place team, led brilliantly by Neil Castle, is making this project happen. I am proud to be part of the team bringing the marketplace to life and cannot wait for the day when I can enjoy a drink with my friends in the courtyard of this amazing building.

Ever since I moved to Caistor, I’ve loved this town and looked for ways to give something back. Whether it’s through Caistor Lions, being a school governor or helping out as a board member of the Caistor and District Community Trust, supporting our community has become a big part of what I do. That’s why I’m so excited about the 2–4 Market Place project. It’s such an iconic building in Caistor and turning it into a lively heritage hub that everyone can enjoy feels like a fantastic way to help our town thrive.

Within a few weeks of settling in Caistor in 2018, and when the Market Rasen Mail was still a newspaper, I saw an article with details of a public meeting to discuss the future of the old Co-op. My first impression of Caistor’s Market Place was that these buildings shouldn’t be empty, and so I went along. From then on, I was involved – initially somewhat naively, not realising the enormity of the task ahead at that time. It has been an all-consuming task ever since, and all these years later, I am delighted to see everybody’s hard work coming to fruition!

I have a long family history associated with Caistor and the surrounding villages over many generations. I believe Caistor has a unique charm and quality with its position on the edge of the Wolds and the fantastic countryside that surrounds it. The regeneration of 2-4 Market Place will hopefully help bring new life to the Town. I got involved with the project at the time I took early retirement over 7 years ago. As a Chartered Mechanical Engineer, I have been involved with many projects during my career, and I thought 2-4 Market Place would offer some interesting challenges and give me an opportunity to give something back to Caistor. Since getting involved, I have worked closely with the Project Management team, the Architect and the Construction Contractors. During that time, I have been involved in all aspects of the design and build process. We worked through extremely challenging times during COVID and its associated lockdowns, etc, as well as dealing with the many challenges and surprises that the buildings have thrown at us. To have had the opportunity to be involved in the project and see the buildings being rebuilt and restored has been a privilege.

I was actually approached by the team to get involved with 2-4, mainly because of my financial skills as well as the fact that I’ve lived here for nearly 20 years, have an established business here and went to school here. It’s my way of giving a little bit back to the community.

I got involved with the 2-4 Market Place project because I am passionate about Caistor as a whole and remember the glory days when it was a thriving market town. I just wanted to try and regain some of that bustling environment that we used to have. The town suffered after the bypass was built, with the lack of footfall and the 2-hour limit on parking also drove away the regular walkers and cyclists. We need a refresh, and 2-4 will be that catalyst to improve tourism and footfall in the centre of town.
