As this year’s Heritage Open Days Festival approaches, the 2-4 team is excited to invite you back inside the Market Place buildings one year on from our first HOD hard-hat tours.

This time, the hard hats can stay at home. 

 Our anniversary tours offer a chance to see exactly how much progress has been made since last year, revisit the stories that first brought people through the doors, and look ahead to the next chapter for 2-4 Market Place.

There’s no arguing that this is one of Caistor’s most talked-about buildings, so, on Saturday 19 September, why not come and take a look around to see what has been going on behind closed doors?

This year’s Heritage Open Days theme, Everyday Histories, invites us to look again at the places, people and stories that have shaped daily life. At 2–4 Market Place, as with the rest of Caistor, that story is written into the fabric of the building itself — from its place at the heart of the marketplace to the generations of local people who have worked, shopped, gathered and passed through its doors.

These guided anniversary tours offer your chance to see how far the restoration project has come in a year, hear more about the building’s past, and discover the new units that will soon welcome new businesses to Caistor.

What to expect

Visitors will be taken on a guided tour through the building, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the work taking place on-site — no hard hat required this time.

Along the way, you’ll hear more about:

• The history of 2–4 Market Place and its role in Caistor’s everyday life
• The restoration journey so far
• The people, trades and stories connected to the building
• The vision for bringing the building back into meaningful community use
• How the project connects with this year’s Heritage Open Days theme, Everyday Histories

This is your first chance to see inside the building now the compound has gone, the parking has returned and the hard hats are off. Come and ask questions, retrace the progress made since last year’s Heritage Open Days tours, and get a closer look at how heritage, community and regeneration are coming together in the centre of Caistor.

As the building is still undergoing restoration, visitors should be aware that some areas may still feel like a work in progress. Suitable footwear is recommended — but the good news is, this is a no-hard-hat tour!
