One year, 12 months, 365 days, 8,760 hours, 525,600 minutes – or at least that is what will have passed us by when the clock strikes midnight on December 31st, 2025.
The last year has seen a tremendous amount of progress made at 2-4 Market Place.
All the major construction works have now been completed, and for the first time in years, the building is now fit to withstand all the wind, rain, and snow – in fact, everything the Lincolnshire weather has been known to throw at us!
The shop retail units at No 2 and No 4 are core and shell ready for new businesses too, which is a truly exciting milestone for the project. This was achieved with the support of all our funders, including a generous grant uplift from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Other highlights this year have included sell-out hard-hat tours for members of the Caistor community that took place in September, heritage activities in partnership with the Caistor Heritage Trust, and the re-opening of the community share offering.
Looking forward to 2026, we are expecting the contractors to be ready to be offsite by the summer, with the official opening soon after. Between now and then, utilities will be connected, and the plasterers, electricians, plumbers, joiners, decorators, and skilled craftsmen will be fitting out and finishing off the transformed building.
The Trust is aiming to have the retail units, holiday lets, and community room all up and running by late summer/autumn 2026.
We are looking forward to 2-4 Market Place playing its part in the Caistor Christmas celebrations for 2026 and to playing an active role in day-to-day life in the Market Place.
A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all – see you in 2026.
