AnotherKind is an award-winning architectural studio based in Sheffield, working across the UK. We specialise in contemporary interventions within historic contexts, with a focus on social value, reuse, and community-led design. Our work is rooted in the belief that architecture should serve people first – and we are passionate about helping communities rediscover and reimagine the places that matter most to them.
Why
We were appointed to lead the architectural design for 2–4 Market Place as part of a wider team committed to restoring and reactivating this important heritage site. Our collaborative approach, creative thinking, and sensitivity to historic buildings have made us a natural fit for this project. Working with the Caistor & District Community Trust has been a rewarding experience – together, we’ve explored ways to preserve the building’s character while giving it a new lease of life; bringing together historic structural elements with contemporary solutions to ensure the longevity of the project.
The project
From feasibility to detailed design, we are supporting this project throughout its evolution. Working closely with local stakeholders, consultants and conservation officers to retain the soul of 2–4 Market Place, the process of unlocking its potential for community use has – so far – been incredibly rewarding. We’re proud to be helping breathe life back into this much-loved building and can’t wait to see Caistor enjoy the renewed heart of its high street.
