A rare behind-the-scenes look at what has sat behind closed doors for years, these tours will give those who book a first glance at how Caistor’s new community and business hub is progressing.
Tours will be:
- Free of charge
- Limited in numbers (booking essential)
- Around 40 minutes in length
- Open to public bookings from 1pm, following a VIP and press preview in the morning
Local Food, Local Support
Thanks to sponsorship from 1st Select, all guests who book the tours will receive a £5 voucher to spend at participating local cafés, restaurants, and bakeries on the day.
It’s a great way to explore Caistor, support local businesses, and enjoy a bite to eat while you’re here. Venues will be announced over the coming weeks.
What to expect on the day
The Heritage Open Day Festival is about shining a light on local history, but also on what comes next. For us, 13 September marks the beginning of a new chapter at 2–4 Market Place – not only celebrating what these buildings once were, but opening the doors – literally – to what they’re becoming for Caistor’s future.
Guests will expect a never-before-seen look at the renovation works that are ongoing on what is currently an operational building site. The tours will take guests through the warren of buildings that form 2-4 Market Place, from the newly realised retail/cafe spaces to the front of the buildings and the work going on in what will become the holiday lets, to a sneak peek at work taking place on The Old Granary, courtyard and what will be the operational, and accessible, heart of the project.
How to get involved
Tour bookings are now open, and we can’t wait to welcome you inside 2–4 for the very first time. Let’s celebrate the past, present, and future of this remarkable place, together.
Please note that all guided tours at 2–4 Market Place will take place on an operational building site.
To ensure everyone’s safety and comfort while visiting:
- PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) will be provided, including a hard hat and high-vis vest.
- Visitors must wear suitable clothing – no loose, floaty items (e.g. long skirts or scarves) that could catch on scaffolding or materials.
- Sturdy, closed-toe shoes are required. Strictly no sandals, flip flops or high heels.
The building is still under construction, so expect:
- Uneven floors
- Loose floorboards
- Low ceilings and beams
- Stairs and scaffolded areas
- Construction materials and equipment on-site
Your tour guide will brief you before entering, but please remain aware of your surroundings and follow all safety instructions.
Parking/arrival: Please meet 15 minutes before your tour is due to start at Southdale Car Park, Caistor, Market Rasen, LN7 6NX. A member of the 2-4 team will meet you there and walk with you to 2-4.
Accessibility and mobility: Due to the nature of the site, access may be limited in certain areas. If you have mobility needs or accessibility requirements and would like to attend, please contact the team in advance of booking at info@2-4marketplacecaistor.co.uk, and we’ll be happy to advise on whether this event will be suitable for you and discuss how we can support your visit.
